I get in just a quick bit of stretching & yoga in my room before off to breakfast. I run into M. again and share a bit more gab – but then we are both off. He leaving Bhutan and me to my last day of fishing in the amazing rivers.

Off fishing. I am still confused by fishing in the fast water. First stop no action, but good river. Kinzang is getting better and better casting and has a good time. No bites. A friend of the guide comes by with the lures they use – a two piece situation: a 3 prong hook and the lure – a tube with a pattern & 2 clear fins – used like crank bait they say. Lure is hollow so slipped on the line & then the hook is tied on the end. Friend tries my rod / reel – and also changes the handle to left side. All he does is lose the lure in fast water. They have caught very large brown trout here, on heavy duty equipment.

We are off to another spot. Not as nice spot, however on the opposite side of the river, where the water is calmer in some pools, Kinzang and the guide see large trout (they cross on a small bridge). But as in Haa Chu, try as we may, we can not get them to bite. We decide to return to the first spot for our picnic as it is much nicer. Good lunch. Wind is getting higher so really only spinning rod effective, though I do work with the Tenkara. BTW at the spot now I get out the fly rod, and sinking line, and can actually get some decent casts in despite the wind. But later must give up as wind just gets worse.

A couple of friends of the guide show up again (they catch one small brown trout ) and then set up my rod and reel and take off up the river. Return 1/2 hour later with 2 nice trout – from the fast water. Kinzang and I try this and quickly loose their lure!

A bit more fishing here and then off to scout a new spot. It’s lovely, but no fish as much as Kinzang & I try. We quit about 5 PM – 10 to 0 casts each for Kinzang and me. He really likes this – big conversion.

Back to town. ATM stop for cash for Dema (weaver) and then momo for dinner – amazing. Regular momo – fried momo in a delicious soup – noodles in another delicious soup. Beer. Then Jamyang and I share ice cream.

Must get to bed early as we leave at 5 AM to take on Tiger’s Nest!

A lovely day on the amazing rivers of Bhutan.
